Anatomy/Cadaver Workshops
At The University of Western Ontario - 2011 Schedule


Lectures by anatomist and neuromuscular physiologist Dr. Charles Rice BSc, MSc, PhD.

Head to Toe Anatomy
This six hour workshop is an opportunity for massage therapists, students and others working in the health care field to review the principle musculoskeletal and nervous systems of the body. Participants will have the opportunity to identify structures on previously dissected cadavers under the guidance of Dr. Rice.

The workshop is 6 hrs in length.

Shoulder and Upper Limb Intensive
Through power points, lecture and the use of prosections, the entire anatomy of the shoulder girdle and upper limb will be covered. As an understanding of the brachial plexus is essential to our profession, Dr. Rice will walk you through it's complexity, discussing it's origins, it's distribution and effects when damaged. Workshop booklets review the anatomy covered and upper limb and shoulder orthopedic testing.

The workshop is 6 hours in length.

The Vertebral Column, The Spinal Cord and Spinal Nerves
This workshop will cover the vertebral column, its movements, articulations, ligaments and surrounding musculature. Likewise with the spinal cord examining its internal and external anatomy, and finishing with spinal nerves their function and distribution. Prosections will be used to identify structures. A workshop booklet and quiz (for you to read on your own time), will allow you to review the material covered and give you an opportunity to validate how much you learned.

The workshop is 5 hours in length.
